Basmati rice 750 gms
Beef 750 gms
Oil 1 cup
Onion 1
Tomatoes 2
Ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp
Yogurt 250 gms
Salt 1-1/2 tbsp
Red chilli powder 1-1/2 tbsp
Kashmiri red chilli 1-1/2 tbsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Corriander powder 1 tbsp
Mace ½ tsp
Nutmeg ½ tsp
Green cardamom 4-5
Black cardamom 1
Star anise 1
Cinnamon stick 2-3
Bay leaf 1
Black pepper ½ tsp
Cloves 5-6
Water 500 ml
Dried plums 4-5
Fresh coriander leaves
Lemon slices 4-5
Tomato slice 4-5
Green chillies 4-5
Gold color dissolved in water ¼ tsp

– Heat oil in a pan and add onions. Fry until it gets translucent.
– Add tomatoes and simmer for 3 minutes on low flame. Mash the tomatoes well.
– Add beef and ginger garlic paste. Cook until meat changes color on high flame. Set aside.
– Take yogurt in a bowl and add salt, red chilli powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, Turmeric powder, coriander powder, mace and nutmeg. Mix well.
– Add the yogurt mixture into the beef and add green cardamom, black cardamom, star anise, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, black pepper and cloves. Mix well.
– And water and bring it to boil. Cover for 35-40 minutes on low flame or till the meat gets tender.
– Add dried plums and mix well.
– Add basmati rice boiled with all spices. Add the beef salan in to the rice and sprinkle some fresh coriander leaves, lemon slices, tomato slices and green chillies.
– Add some of the rice on top and add gold color.
– Sprinkle some fresh coriander and fried onion. Squeeze a lemon.
– Simmer for 10 minutes on low flame and serve.
